Curtains to keep rooster from crowing so early?

Long story short:
Our neighbor is a major PITA. Telling us our rooster has to go because he woke him up at 5:00 this morning.
They are in an insulated coop. Would it help to get blackout curtains? He doesn't crow during the night, only when the sun comes up. I would close the window and the window on the door so everything will be sealed up. I would open everything up around 7 or so.
As much as I dislike this guy, I'm trying to come up with a solution. I love our roosters and would be devastated if I had to get rid of them.

I believe that could work, because light seems to be the most common trigger for rooster crowing during the dark hours.

I had a young roo many years ago that delighted in crowing at the most obscure hours of the night. Thankfully, I have no neighbors to be disturbed by rooster crowing, but it did irritate me. Then I noticed that his crowing coincided with my nocturnal visits to the bathroom or if I had insomnia and turned my bed light on to read.

I moved the little loud mouth to the coop farthest from the house and closed a drop-down shutter each night so no light could get in. He didn't get to come out of his coop until I got up and let him out. Nights were again blissfully quiet.

Yes, I also have bantam roos that will crow around the clock

Hope the guy goes deaf.....hope he soon needs hearing aids...... Lol
Curtains could help. It would be worth a try. You are lucky yours only crows when the sun comes up.....mine crows at 2 in the morning! :heSo curtains would not help mine.

Are you allowed to keep roosters? The neighbor might just come up with a new excuse.
I can barely hear my boy. It has to be super quiet and I have to concentrate. From the distance he is from our house, he sort of sounds like a lost kitty. :)
Our neighbors are not close though and we don't have restrictions as we are rural. Hopefully the laws/rules where you live are on your side.

I dont think the curtain well help much, IF he can hear another rooster crowing he is likely answer,,,, Mine may crow anytime during the night, and if I go out and listen I can hear others as well.
What are your local laws on roosters? And how are they enforced?
Example, in Tulsa OK one is allowed to have a rooster, until he crows and gets a complaint. He has now violated the noise ordinance and has to go,,,
One of my neighbors 1/4 mile south of me, told me "someone has a loud rooster", yep that's my big boy! He's a foghorn! I am in the country/county.

Edit BTW they need good ventilation at night,,,,I would not recommend closing them up sound/air tight.
