hello beautiful chicken people,
this is my third attempt at incubating button quail eggs. this time I tried a dry hatch because I hear it's more reliable. today's day 6, I candled the eggs and they're not looking great. are any of them developing? a couple of them have wheels so thick you can't really see... thanks Mrs hen. if not what could I be doing wrong?

thanks

I'll go out on a limb, so to speak!, :D the two dark ones are fertile, the one with the two dark spots and you can see the air cell, might have quit? The others are not fertile.

Even if they are fertile, does that necessarily mean they are developing? It makes sense the others aren't, my girl is just over a year old.

They are too dark to see into....so they have developed to that stage, whether or not they continue to develop has to be seen/wait until hatch day.

Hi! First time incubating here and I seem to be at the same time as you. Here’s one of my quail eggs (pictures are from yesterday) it’s very hard to see development. I’ve tried about 3 different lights and saw nothing, only one light I can see into them with and only since yesterday, I can’t even see into all the eggs. The veins will be at the blunt side of the egg so look there. It can also help to mess around with saturation/brightness/contrast on a photo editing app, sometimes the veins will be more clearer.

Turns out it was just the shell being too thick to let light through. To be certain I cracked one open, and there was no blood whatsoever. Either my hen is infertile, or the rooster isn't doing his job. 😞
