Not sure if this has already been asked but I cant seem to find the answer, or maybe not searching correctly..
My hen just hatched 4 babies and 6 eggs still remained under her but still had a week (+/-) to go. She sat on them a day or two after the four hatched but yesterday I went in and the eggs were cold, didn't think much of it as the four got cold numerous times with her trying to hatch them and they all hatched (two days after due date)
Later that day she wasn't sitting on them and kicked them away showing the chicks how to scratch, so I decided to wipe out the incubator. I ended up candling them. All had large air sacs, read that this is due to low humidity (which is fine as of today, air sacs are back to normal) BUT when candling one of the eggs, I'm able to move the chick around.. I've never seen this before.. they are at the stage where I can't see any movement (they must be at day 18 or so by now) does this type of movement (wobbling around freely) me that the chick is dead?
Sorry for the long post!! Thank you to anyone that's able to give me some feedback! TIA
