Delaware

#predoggg

Thank you! I got a free rooster today and he is just ENORMOUS. I have a RIR hen and she is curious and really easy-going so I was thinking of putting them together and seeing what happens. I think he must be like 15 pounds... I gotta weigh this sucker.

He's quite friendly and docile but VERY easily frightened. My other chickens are definitely desensitized to sounds but this guy... he just has this blank look of, "The lights are NOT on."

Anyone else have a similar experience with a Delaware?

They must all have a bit of different personality? I have 3 2 week old Delawares. One is almost annoyingly friendly. If I enter the brooder, it is on my arm immediately. Definitely a "lap chicken". One is docile, but less friendly, and the 3rd is in between. It sometimes sleeps in my hand.

My Delaware is the dominant pullet and is aggressive in the pecking order. She is okay with getting picked up, but is a little on the flighty side. When she was younger, she was kind of weird, and used to look up at the sky a lot and do a call that sounded like "Ow!"
