Depressed hen?

Hello all,
Unfortunately, two nights ago my hen, Onyx, got a very bad case of impacted crop and we had to put her down. I know that I'm heartfully distraught, but I have only one other hen who was very very close with Onyx. I'm worried that she might become depressed as she's constantly clucking at me as if to ask "where is Onyx?". I'm in NJ and it's getting colder so I'm not sure if I should get another hen or two to keep my lone bird company. Thoughts on what to do?

sorry for your loss :hugs
your surviving hen does need company really; and there are sometimes adult birds looking for new homes for whatever reason. But do remember to quarantine any new arrivals so that they do not put at risk the life of the hen you are trying to help.
