I had some quail hatch over the weekend and they made a pasty mess between there food and the water dish. And yes they took a bath in it. Now their down is caked to their body. Should I wash them? Warm water... blow dry?

I sure wouldn't. I think you'll have a high mortality rate if you do. Quail chicks should be kept dry.

If they can get to the point that they make a "pasty mess" then you need to reevaluate how you are giving them water. They should not be able to get into their water enough to do this.

Yeah, probably not. When one of mine gets nasty, I leave it. It goes off in a couple weeks with the molt.

WASH MACHINE GENTLE CYCLE, WARM WATER, WITH WOOLITE DETERGENT AND 30 MIN IN THE DRIER ON PERMANENT PRESS SHOULD DO IT.... OH AND DONT FORGET THE BOUNCE DRIER SHEET... WITHOUT IT THEY WILL BE A STATIC MESS!

SERIOUSLY --- DONT DO THIS!............

AS WHITECONFECTIONS SAID IT'LL WEAR OFF SHORTLY

You got that right, I had to rethink the whole water and food set up. But what can I say?? I am a beginner here. You can definitely tell amongst the chicks which ones hatched before the food fight and after. A couple fluffy cute ones, and bunch look like Elvis on a bad hair day.

I am turning on the dryer as we speak. I hope it doesn't tumble them too bad. n
