Dirt inside my eggs

The debris, and I really like that description, has always been in the white and not in or on the yolk. It tends to be a grey brown color, not shaped like a pea but about the size of a pea. I'm gonna crack some eggs open this afternoon and see what happens.

Did you ever get to the bottom if this? I found a couple of eggs with what looks like dirt inside. I've eaten them and they aren't gritty. Also these "dirty eggs" are only coming from my Maran.

That looks like dried blood flakes - sort of like "flea dirt" but obviously not from fleas, rather from small bleeds inside the bird that have "dried" and then been picked up within the egg as it travels down through the tract.

Mine looked like that but the chunks were almost pea sized. Mine came from my amerucaunas and has seemed to resolved on its own.

I am also having gritty eggs. The first two eggs we got from out hens just a few days ago were small and the white part wasn't as clear. When I cooked them they tasted gritty. Not a whole lot though. I didn't see anything when I first cracked them open. These were the very first eggs we have gotten from these chickens and our first time raising chickens. I was wondering if we were doing something wrong.
