My ducks decided that anywhere is a good place to drop a egg. That being said, is there any way to get these eggs clean? I use egg wash and l spend about 5+ minutes scrubbing them to get that white egg shell white again. Is there some method to get the stains off the eggs? Can't keep anything dry with ducks😬

Since you're scrubbing them, I presume you aren't incubating them and are putting them in the fridge when done. In that case, have you tried using some weak bleach water on them?

I can't help on the cleaning side (although I get dealt ads daily for various wipes and devices), but I'm wondering if this can be addressed through a change in husbandry? Our girls tend to lay 99.9% of the time early morning. We provide them with straw in the duckhouse (where there is NEVER any water) and run, and they make nests and lay in the nests most of the time. Regular routine, clean straw and no early am releases yields clean eggs for us. I totally get that may not work for you or your ducks, but I thought I'd share what works for us. Good luck.

P.S. And as the other commenter said, do make sure those washed eggs are going in the fridge! :)

A clean, protected, nesting area should help. If they have a spot they feel safer in, they may favor that. But I leave my eggs dirty until it is time to use them. Then I wash with a scrubby spong and soap. The stains do not go away, but Im confident the germs (if there are any) do. If these are for personal consumption, just chill. :) I have not figured out a good nesting solution for my setup yet. And I still get random eggs in the yard sometimes though most are laid inside the duck house.

I have one for sure possibly 2 that like to drop them outside. I even found one in their "pool" when l was cleaning it. I'll try the soaking in diluted bleach along with the egg cleaner.

I just blew out some duck eggs that o was using for quiche last night that were fairly grungy. Before blowing them i cleaned them under running water with just a scrun brush. After they were hollow I dipped them in peroxide and that pretty much took care of the remaining stains.

upper right is the blown egg. The difference is a lot more stark in person.
