Do chicken recognize their owners?

This happened today AGAIN a man came to buy one of my young roo's and the hens all ran under the coop (Where they think is"safe" then when he left, they all came right back out, the second he closed the chicken pen gate....Very funny and cute how they are only comfortable around me :)

Definitely.

My Shamos for example wouldn't trust anyone but me within 30+ feet of them. They really don't like strangers, even my own family who live under the same roof. (as me)

Flock Master, are all of those natural colors? It is awesome your picture.

Going back to the topic, I think my rooster recognizes me. When I park the car he comes closer knowing that I am bringing food. But I dont think my hens or the chicks do (or maybe they dont like me!) because only the rooster stay closer and my hens are waiting on his call.

my girls tolerate my husband to do chores if i work an odd shift but they will swarm me for attention. some of the bigger girls won't let him near me if we happen to be in the run at the same time. It is so cute. Now if i can train Karen to poop on his boot....

If I take a visitor into the garden, I have a hard time convincing them we do have chickens; there's not one in sight! But they all go running to the gate when the postman comes... And he doesn't even give them treats, he just talks to them and they talk back.

yes they know who feeds them and cares for them.they are shy of my daughters when they come to visit.my dh husband made me a portable chicken tractor.he backed it up to the coop and opened the door and tried to coach them in.he finally gave up.i went over and called them and they all went on in.i'am the one that feeds them in the mornings and tucks them in at night.

One of my chickens recognize me real good!! Lol. When I call her she comes running!! Lol!!

Mine know me and panic when someone new walks into the yard... however it's perfectly fine in their minds to sneak over to the graveyard (next door) and beg would be visitors for treats.
