Do chicks sleep all night like chickens or do they wake for food/water

Like human babies?

I am out cold every night so never was sure. They still have a red heat lamp hanging over head so I was curious how much they slept at night

if you have a red heat lamp they get up off and on all night, but if you use a heat emitter they sleep all night and are active during the day, a heat emitter has no light

Ha ha, I have seen that happen during the day. It's a riot!

I'm using the heat emitter and when the lights go out they are out for the night.
It's quiet.

They do get up for breakfast, themselves, in the morning but are layed back and sleep in 'till 8.

Yes, heat emitter here as well.

They sleep all night and when I turn on the light, its like a chicken circus.
Stretching and then a mad run for the waterer and then from their to the food dish.
The night time quiet is great as they are in the house.

If they've got light to see by they wake and sleep all through the night. If they don't have light they sleep just like grown birds. The lot I have in the brooder now are already starting to use the practice roost and I have them down to just one bulb. In a few more days I'll start turning it out in the late afternoon so they can start becoming accustomed to natural light cycles.
