I recently hatched these chicks. They are now 5 weeks old. I wanted an araucana cross to get an easter egger, despite living in a smallish suburban property and already having 5 hens. I was told these two are araucana and wyandotte cross. I can see some wyandotte features in the new feathers. I just can't work out the afro. They are normal sized...so not silkie. Can anybody shed light on whether I have got my breed mix right please.

Wow are they cute!

Hopefully someone will chime in here that has an answer to your question. :)

I think Aussie Aracauna have crests, don't they? And crests are partially dominant, so crossing a crested to a non-crested basically gives you a smaller crest each time. I think you have a good chance at colored eggs.
