Does anyone else have parrotlets?

I just got my first Parrotlet! Her name is Precious and she is a total diva! Shes 7 weeks old.....I have had her for 1 week. She might be a little spoiled. Caught her playing peek-a-boo with the kitten from inside her cage. It was really cute.

I have a Parrotlet myself! I have a male, named Ocean. I used to have a female, but she became extremely aggressive towards Ocean, and she had to be rehomed. But I can tell you that it is possible to tame a pair of Parrotlets. I did it myself. It is quiet hard, yes. But it is possible. Both Ocean and Jellybean were tame before Jellybean had a severe hormonal problem. But I get updates frequently, and she is doing great. She loves her people, and is beginning to mimic.

Ocean has taken some time to recover from his issues with Jellybean, but he is my sweet baby now. He loves riding on my shoulder, and sharing my food with me. He is very quiet, which is surprising since males are usually more vocal. But I believe he is a "closet talker," because I heard him whistling the other day when I was in the other room.

I know you will enjoy your Parrotlets, because I certainly have!

I have a green male named Rainbow. He had navy blue and turquoise under his wings and it's absolutely gorgeous! We only have one and he is 6-8 years old. We're not quite sure. If someone bothers us and he's out he'll go full-out attack bird on them. He's really stubborn.

I have a green female names Yoshi. I'm away at school so I can't have any of my other poultry with me so I'm so glad to have my parrotlet with me.

I know this is an old thread but can anyone tell me what I would get from an American white female with a blue male. I dont know if they are split to anything so its hard to guess. I am assuming they offspring will be green split to blue.

Sorry I didn't catch this until now.....

OK, I had to do a little refresher to be sure, but this is what I've come to know. 'American White' is a combination of 'American Yellow' and 'Blue'. Genetically, 'American White' birds are homozygous for both mutations. So if you cross an 'American White' with a 'Blue' then the offspring will be all 'Blue' visually, but will also be split to 'American Yellow', and therefore effectively be split for the combined 'American White' phenotype.

If anything other than 'Blue' offspring result, you'll know that the parents are split to something else.

:)
