Does this egg look fertilized? Thought I had all hens!

Hi everyone - long time lurker and finally made an account! I have 8 18-20 week old chickens, who I thought were all hens. Two recently started laying, and when I cracked open the first egg, I noticed the germinal disk looks like it has a ring around it/is fetrtilized based on pictures I’ve seen.

I’ve attached a picture where you can see it below a store bought unfertilized egg for reference. I was hoping someone more experienced might be able to weigh in.

If it is, I have some investigative work to do!

It does look suspicious though sometimes the heat and age of the egg can make it look funny. Can we see pictures of your birds?

It was hot that day, but it wasn’t out there more than a few hours (cleaned the coop in the morning and found it early afternoon).

Ive attached some pics - I’m pretty sure two of barred rocks are laying. The EEs would be most suspicious I guess, but the gray one still has a pale comb, and the gold one’s comb and face just got bigger/redder this week so I thought she would lay soon. No crowing from anyone, and none have any spurs starting.

No one looks too suspicious IMO, it might just be the heat or something like nuthatched suggested

Nothing looks roostery to me either. I’ve had a couple eggs like that where i swear i see a bullseye and I only had two old ladies at the time.

I’ve seen it on store eggs several times - I thought maybe they were fertilized but maybe they just look different sometimes! I really appreciate you looking!

I've had eggs that I swore weren't fertilized but threw them in the incubator as heat sinks to even out temperature spikes, and they wound up being fertile (with a higher than average fertility rate! And I had opened up six eggs looking for bullseyes.)

I would say throw these in an incubator or set up a diy Incubator. Within five days you'll be able to see if they're fertile and you have a mystery rooster to find.

Spurs don't indicate gender, females can have spurs.
