Hi,
So unfortunately I have a drake with a prolapsed phallus and it’s something that I’ve never dealt with before. The first thing I did was read a lot of threads here with people who’ve dealt with this issue before, and I got a lot of good information on how to deal with it. However his looks more swollen than the ones I saw in pictures here, so I’m a bit unsure of what I should do.

His name is Pip and he’s 2 years old. I didn’t notice it before because it doesn’t hang down, but yesterday I caught him and that’s when I noticed it. He is eating, drinking, swimming, generally acting normal. But I do think he’s walking slower and he’s a bit thinner than I’d like. It’s possible that it has been prolapsed for a long time

Even though it freaks me out, I will cut it off if that’s the best thing for Pip. But it’s so swollen I don’t even know where to cut. Today I cleaned it, put some DMSO and lube, and was able to push it back in. Unfortunately it immediately popped back out.

Here are some photos. If anyone has experience and has an idea if I should try to cut it off or what, I’d be very grateful. Thank you!

I am so sorry for what your poor boy is going through. I am unsure who the duck experts on the site are but responding to move it to the top.
Is there anyone here that
can help?
Thank you. I wish I knew if there was much chance that he can recover without an amputation
