Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I used to love turkey, but I quit eating meat a few years ago. I also don't eat dairy. I'm an almost-vegan. I do eat eggs, but only ones from my own flocks because I KNOW they are living great and healthy lives. I have the vet bills to prove it!

Looks like yesterday was the last "good" weather day; rainy today with freezing temps ahead. I think I will spend the day catching up on shows I have on DVR or books that I've meant to read. Both sound like more fun than house cleaning. Or, going out to clean coops in the rain.

I put up tarps on two more sides of the goats' shelter yesterday and under the young chickens' coop so they would have more space to hang out. I really want to switch them to a larger coop, but I'm waiting for everyone else to finish their molts, which are stressful enough without relocating birds. The new order will require a three-coop switch.

Still no more signs of rats (and Lisa, if they did travel to your place, you have my sincerest apology and massive gratitude!!). I can't really put the former-resident chickens back in their old coop because the side walls were so heavily damaged by the rats. I'm trying to figure out ways to fortify the little pre-fab so it stands up until spring, when ideally, I can get the original coop repaired.
