Hi,
I have a Rhode Island Red hen, 4 years old. She has a droopy pale comb, lethargic, runny stool, not laying eggs. I checked her crop, it is empty. I checked her vent/bottom...no stuck egg. Please help me figure out what is making her ill.
-Thank you.

IF you haven't done so already isolate her so she isn't bullied. Offer her some water with electrolytes. Are there any bubbles on her face? Any nasal discharge? Does she appear to be losing weight?

Hi,
Yes, I have her isolated. I am giving her ACV, Olive leaf, oil of oregano. Also Black Strap molasses mixed with baking soda in her water. No bubbles on her face, No nasal discharge. Yes, she is losing weight, but still eating "VERY" little and drinking some fluids.

Get her drinking as much fluids as possible. Even if you have to water her by dropper! VetRX might help as well in general. Is she having a hard time breathing? If she starts to lose control of her legs let me know.

Ok, I will give her more fluids by dropper. She is not wheezing nor struggling to breathe.Yet, she will no longer stand.

I would give her poultry vitamins and let her rest. Unfortunately I think that is all you can do. Usually I am all about finding the problem, but with her being a 4 year old RIR she is actually “old” and at that time where they usually pass. Production breeds average lifespan is 3-4 years due to being bred to produce so many eggs which shortens their potential lifespan.

Yeah, I will continue the regimen with her vitamins. I dont think she has much longer though.
-Thank you
