I'm new to backyard chickens as I am in the midst of determining the breeds and genders of my two ducks. When I first got them, I was told (by a person who was unsure) that they were Muscovies... they're definitely not. At the moment both ducks are 10 weeks old. Cielo is the slightly larger duck that seems to look like a Black Swedish, Cariño is the one that looks like a Cayuga. However, with their similar feather growth and overall build, I initially thought they were a mix of both (SwedishxCayuga). I got them both at the same time from the same group of ducklings that looked like they were all from the same mother, and therefore the same (maybe mixed) breed. But then again all ducklings look the same. As I was given the wrong information by the pet store which I had got them from, I'd like to hear the opinions of others of their breed. From my perspective based on their voices, Cariño seems to be a female duck with a very loud daffy duck type quack. Cielo (I'm slightly less sure of) seems to be a drake solely based on the fact that he always makes more of a raspy yell voice when calling me, never a quack. However, the two still have their little baby chirps now and then. I am still unsure of Cielo's gender as there is no sign of a drake feather yet, which, is Cielo is male, should be coming through soon I have read.I have my assumptions on their breed and gender but I would love to hear the perspectives of other more experienced duck keepers considering these two will be my first. I have attached photos of the duck from the day I got them until now :)

Check with the place were you bought them as to where they got them. If it was a hatchery, you should be able to see what breeds they raise.
As for their gender, if you post a video of their “quacks” people will be able to tell you. With a video you have to upload it to YouTube and then link it here. I am not sure what a daffy quack is. I would have associated the cartoon duck’s sound with a drake’s sound. You might be a little early for a drake curl.

:welcome Beautiful ducks!
They could be a mix of Cayuga and Swedish or they maybe one Swedish and one Cayuga, Hard to know unless you saw both parents and know they were pure breed of either breed you mentioned. What ever they sure look nice and healthy!
Yes it is pretty unfortunate I won't ever know what breed the parents were. Cariño and Cielo say thank you for the compliment!

I have not gone back to the pet shop I bought them from to ask them where they may have gotten them since they did not even know what breeds the ducklings were, I'm not sure if I would trust whether they are truthful about their source haha.
As for their voices, I will post a video within the next few days when I catch a good moment to capture their quacks.
Regarding the drake feather, when do you think I should be expecting one? If Cielo were to be male that is. I have read anywhere between 8-12 weeks.

Thank you for the help :))
