Hello,
This is my second time incubating eggs and 1st time duck eggs in my DIY incubator.
So ive kept 6 of em in the incubator with temperature 37.7°c . Not sure of the humidity as I dont have a controller for it. So one of the egg showed development on day 3 and the others didnt. Today is day 7 and thhe rest is starting to show development. So my question is will the eggs which showed late development hatch??? Im not sure what breed eggs are these but was told that itll hatch in 28days and its my first time hatcing duck eggs so bit confused with the late development.

Any answers appreciated😊

Thanks :)

The short answer is maybe, depending on the cause of the delay. Controlling humidity to ensure optimal incubation conditions is very important for good hatches, so I recommend you get a hygrometer to help you manage the humidity. Too little or too much humidity can adversely impact a hatch. How are the air cells looking?

Is your incubator forced air (circulated air by fan)? If so, your temperature seems about right, but if it's a still air, it's too low and that could help explain the delay in development.

If you haven't read it already, Pete55's incubation guide is a great resource. Best of luck with your hatch.

From your description, I can't be sure whether they are actually developing late, or whether you just couldn't see it until later. Either one is a possibility.

Different colors of eggshells, or even shells that are extra-thick, can make it harder to see the embryo, so it sometimes looks like it is slow to develop. Low temperatures can make it actually slow to develop (low in the whole incubator, or low in just one part of the incubator.)

I would definitely keep incubating them and see.

Please update us as incubation goes on, because I'll be curious to see what happens!

Hello,
Thanks for your response.
Im on day 28, none of em has pipped yet. Candled one of them and can see movements but no signs of internal pip.

Maybe they are gonna hatch late?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

Candled one of them, there is still movements but no sign of internal pip.

Mine is a DIY incubator without fan. All I have is a thermostat to control the temperature. Will surely add a hygrometer for my next batch.

Thanks for your suggestion!!

Today is day 29
And still no pipping
My mum candled the egg and saw the aircell was very huge!! So mum went ahead and broke open the aircell part and saw this....
Does this mean the chick is shrinked wrap?? Another egg also showed same aircell size and other 2 had the right amount of aircell but neither of em pipped.

Tried removing the membrane by wetting it but inside was wet and had some yellow type liquid all over the chick and was moving. So left it as it is in the incubator.

Anysuggestion on what to do????

Edit : we tried removing the membrane thinking that it miight drown in the yellow liquid
The chick hasnt fully absorbed the yolk yet so left it as it is.
Will iit survive?
