I am sorry for your loss. I made a home made incubator and was able to hatch out 6 ducks. They were all drakes due to the eggs getting cool at one point or another. I have decided to order or buy females if I need anymore. Drakes have a hard time finding a good home and a lot of times end up getting eaten.Update : none of em hatched
Candled them again and saw no movements. They were to hatch 5 days ago.
Cracked open the eggs. All were dead with their yolk still visible
Thanks for helping tho. Learnt alot about incubating duck eggs and they are hard to than chicken eggs.
When the air cell suddenly gets big, it's because it has dropped and the baby inside is getting ready to pip internally. A day late isn't great, but can be due to many reasons and you shouldnt rush. If you see movement, there is no reason to intervene yet, until the internal pip. Cracking it open and removing all that shell, was a very bad move. The baby was still absorbing as you can see blood vessels left. It looks like the membrane was then dry and it should not have been opened. The yellow liquid was likely the yolk, and whether or not the baby was going to survive anyway, this definitely was partly to blame for it's death. Please be careful next time and read the article on assisted hatching before intervening...Today is day 29
And still no pipping
My mum candled the egg and saw the aircell was very huge!! So mum went ahead and broke open the aircell part and saw this....
Does this mean the chick is shrinked wrap?? Another egg also showed same aircell size and other 2 had the right amount of aircell but neither of em pipped.
Tried removing the membrane by wetting it but inside was wet and had some yellow type liquid all over the chick and was moving. So left it as it is in the incubator.

I'm sorry for your losses, it's very hard to go through them, I know
we all make mistakes, but its good to learn from them. Best of luck with any future hatches, I'm sure next time will be more successfulThank You for your reply!
