Tonight I noticed that my duck was acting super odd and was having trouble getting out of the pool, this is very unusual for him. He looked like he had missing feathers on his belly and was super lethargic. My ducks typically don't want to be near me but tonight I noticed that he wasn't bothering to walk away. When I got him to move he had trouble getting into the coop which is about 3 inches off the ground to keep it from becoming soggy. He has never had this issue and I'm worried, any ideas on what it could be??

How old is your duck? what breed? Ever been given niacin or any supplement containing niacin? What are you feeding?

He just turned

4 months, I've never given him niacin before and he's never had supplements containing niacin. I'm feeding a duck flock grower that was recommended by my vet. I've been feeding ever since he was old enough to have adult food and never had any issues.

That is good but it still doesn't mean he can't come down with a niacin deficiency. Happens often even when fed the best feed out there. You might want to try some liquid B Complex and see if it helps.
What breed is your duck? Large breeds especially Pekin can have niacin deficiency even as adults as duckling they grow super fast so they are ready to be processed at 12 weeks or younger and it really can make their legs weak. The liquid B complex strengthens their legs and helps them get over the deficiency quicker. Many keep their Pekins on niacin their whole lives in the form of Nutritional yeast. But any breed can come down with a niacin deficiency. Sure couldn't hurt to treat as one and see if the liquid B complex makes a difference.
The missing feathers may mean he is going through a molt. If your in the USA TSC carries a liquid B Complex brand name Durvet it will say injectable but we use it orally with our birds.

He's a mallard, Cayuga, Blue Swedish cross. Mom is a mallard and dad is a Cayuga, Blue Swedish. He was given to us by friends because they ended up with too many ducks. But now that I think about it they always give their baby ducks Nutritional yeast as babies to help bone growth and health they had stopped feeding it by the time we had gotten them. I can talk to my vet and get some Liquid B complex, thank you so much

I use human b complex actually. It works great. When dealing with a deficiency I usually double the dose for the first few days at least and also give good whole forms like nutritional yeast on top of the human liquid. I buy from a organic herbal shop to make sure I get good quality. Walmart isn't your friend when it comes to vitamins, minerals, and herbs unfortunately.
