Hi Everyone,
I have adopted a bird who I thought was a Pekin Duck. Someone on your forum saw a pic of her and said she was a emb

den goose. I have never had any type of birds, so I am so confused. I thought she was a big duck, but know that one of your wonderful friends on the forum said she was a goose. Now that that has been brought to my attention, I think she does honk and her neck is so long. she is mostly white with an orange beek. She follows me every where. I have only had her for 7 days now. She just appeared in my yard, and I started feeding her, and now she is here to stay. She has everything she needs. I have already spoiled her and made sure she is safe from predatures at night. She has a safe house and a pool which she loves.
So I am going to show pics of her, and can y'all please give me your opinion of her being a duck or goose, and any other info. I would really appreciate it. I need help....
thanks
Donna

Yes, you definitely have a goose there!
Try posting this in the goose forum. They may be able to help you more. There are several white geese, embdens, male pilgrims, tufted romans, white chinese, and lots of mixes turn out white. Each breed has its ways of identification (this is definitely not a chinese, isn't a pilgrim unless it has some gray feathers in the wings, etc). So I am sure there are people on there that will better help you figure out what type this goos is and possibly gender. But you may have to wait until next spring and see if you get eggs or not to determine male or female as most geese can't be sexed just by looking at them.

You are both lovely!!! What a sweetie! And you have taken her in. I love these stories. On behalf of waterfowl, thanks.

Enjoy the goose forum! There are some duck people who also post there.
