Duck sitting and standing butt up

I had to learn by doing it on my own after the first few times it's easy. I did wrap my Runner in a towel and held her between my knees. I'd def call the vet on Monday and let them know so they can give you what you need.. Will she drink? if so try making her recovery formula real soupy and see if she'll drink it?

Yup I had her wrapped in a towel between my knees. With what they gave me though I wouldn't be able to hold her mouth open and keep the syringe and tube together. She'll only drink out of the pool and a small bucket of water with apple cider vinegar and garlic overnight. She won't drink from the bucket except at night. I've tried water from a dish and she won't :) I'll still try tomorrow though. She won't take any water really from me or if I'm around. She's also not inclined to drink if the other ducks aren't around, unless from her pool, they'd knock a dish over easily and probably end up drinking it on her.
Edit: I tried giving her some recovery soup and she took a couple sips when I put her been to the liquid but that's all :)

@Miss Lydia I tried jerry-rigging the tube/syringe but ended up getting a little air in her crop. So tried something different and cut the hard plastic end off that didn't fit the syringe and just put the clear tube itself over the tip. That worked great and kept suction, so I didn't have to worry about anymore possibility of air getting in. Gave her 20ml. Pool girl, such a good sport after having to have it put in her throat a couple times cause I had to fix the tube. It went in no problem the first time too but when I had to do it again it didn't go as smoothly, not on her part but mine. Couldn't get placement right so had my son hold the phone flashlight so I could make sure it wasn't going down her wind pipe instead of trying to feel it out. I didn't want it to take any longer than needed. Gave her a short break in the pool than gave her meds. Didn't give them first in case the formula came back up.

Good for you figuring out how best to use what you had. Hopefully getting feed and meds into her you'll begin to see her bounce back pretty quick.

I'm praying. It's so sad when they're not feeling well and then you gotta manhandle/make them even more uncomfortable in order to help them feel better, hoping what you're doing is the right thing. Even what the vet diagnosed was just a guess. I don't feel great about giving antibiotics without actually knowing what the issue is. They tried to do a stool sample to test for parasites but there wasn't enough to get a good one and those tests can take days, so they would've most likely had her start the antibiotics as a precaution anyway. Last time I had a duck tested for parasites it was days after he passed that I got the results after asking if they had them yet, and it was negative. They also saw in the records that I've fed recovery to my ducks in the past (one of them actually but it was probably in the others file to give if needed) so they didn't go over how to use what they gave me. In the past though I was told to use a large syringe they gave me, not a tube but must be they wrote tube feed in the file. I don't really find it odd that they didn't go over how to use the tube when they had it in the records that I've given recovery before (and I knew there were plenty of explanations online, and I've watched very detailed ones) but I felt it odd they didn't tell me how much to give her for her weight. She's much smaller than the drake I had to feed with a syringe. I guess I find it odd that they don't make certain that you know exactly what you need to do and how much to give, especially when often times in the moment you don't think of certain things to ask (especially when you have your kids with you lol) and then can't always reach them when you need to later. So when it was time to give it to her I thought, oh shoot, they never said how much to give her and it wasn't on her discharge papers. So I figured I'd just give her what was recommended for my pekin girl if she had needed it when she was about the same age, which was 25ml. She seems a bit smaller though, so I gave 20ml.

@Miss Lydia I just realized I accidentally gave my duck a second dose of Meloxidyl (meloxicam). She's only supposed to have it once a day (1.0ml) and I gave Friday night and again on Saturday morning, not thinking. Been really busy and a lot going on along with taking care of her. She hasn't seemed to get worse so hopefully that one time thing will be okay but I can't believe I did that. I'll reach out to my vet in the morning but in the meantime was wondering if you had some knowledge in this area?

I don't think there would be a problem since you haven't said she is showing any side effects. I understand.
Ok thanks! I'm not exactly sure what the side effects would be or how long it would take for them to show. It's hard when pets get sick when you've got a lot going on, I get tired and scatterbrained and make mistakes. Stinks too when it happens when a vet isn't available. There used to be an ER vet who took poultry but just stopped so no one to call on the weekend.

If your are concerned you could do a flush with Activated charcoal. I would def wait till tomorrow to give her another dose. But doing a flush might interfere with the antibiotic .
