Duck Talk

Every day the past 2 weeks has been as follows,

I let the ducks out of their coop. 11 of 12 rush to the water and food. Blanca takes a few moments to let everyone know, me included, that they need to back off away from her boyfriend (Cherry). Laffy Taffy (hey, another Taffy!) yells at me for yelling at her to get her butt off her nest and eat like everyone else!! Laffy ultimately gets kicked off her nest and begrudgingly eats, yelling and wagging her tail the whole time.

Most everyone leaves in a hurry to free range as fast as possible. Sometimes Strawberry or Lemon will think about hanging back to nest, but Laffy’s the main culprit. I don’t allow this broodiness for a number of reasons. Laffy screams and cries at the fact that she must free range. How tragic..

Everyone returns in the evening, eats, drinks.. Laffy rushes over to her nest and dramatically buries herself in hay. I can hardly see her half the time. Here’s some evidence,

Laffy and Blanca complain some more, and everyone gets put away for the night. I love every bit of it, truly ☺️

Hi.

For the time being, I own :
• several - A LOT OF (don't ask!) - Indian Runner ducks,
• 5 Duclair ducks,
• 3 Khaki Cambell ducks,
• 2 Cayuga drakes.

I have many ducks, and so many pictures of them...

Yesterday, I was looking at some pictures I have taken of my ducks...
...and I found ONE picture (of one of my Trout Indian Runner hen) that made me remember Indian Runner ducks are, in fact, tiny person :

Very cute! I also have duclairs and I just love them!

I don’t know. This is my first time having Muscovies, and all my other ducks used to lay all year, so maybe Muscovies just lay in doing and summer?
My muscovi laid eggs for maybe 2 month total, she keeps going broody. When she lays it is daily but it's only a couple weeks at a time and it is quite hard to break her broodiness. Even now she's found out where my chicken lay and decided one of the boxes was hers now. At least she sleeps off the floor i guess? I don't mind, she's a pet but I'd like if she took a break for the winter at least...

here she is and with her partner.
