Hi everyone.
Lone survivor from a very difficult clutch that the mother abandoned.
We had a heap of rain, she left the eggs in cold rain water and never looked at them again. This was just over a week ago. I tried to get her back on them. She wasn't having it at all. I created an incubator out of my son's snake tank (yes snakey got temporary housing to accommodate our new guest) the tank has thermostat etc. I used sponges, paper towels, bowl of water for humidity initially until I got a humidifier.

This little guy internally pipped 3.5 days ago. External pip 1 day ago.
Something wasn't right so I checked him and his giant foot was over/beside his head.
I didn't want to interfere. .. I waited.
But 4am this morning I candled him, not sure why I felt compelled to get up and do that but he looked like he was gasping. Zero progress in his position and no more tapping or peeps.
I created a safety hole.
I noticed the membrane was definitely dried out. Not good.
I Peeled away some super dry non veiny membrane, no blood,
Dampening the membrane around the duckling and increase humidity etc.
I got his head out from under his giant foot and put him back.
6 hrs later he is Mostly just resting. Not appearing distressed. Occasionally flapping a wing, kicking a foot, peeps when I talk to him and little wriggles.
Problem is, I see the yolk sack 😞
I have left him in the bottom of the shell. Propped up so he can't wriggle out and damage himself or the sack. Upped the humidity. .. what else can I do? ?? I'm so invested in this little champion, I also don't want him to suffer. Help!!!
First time duckling mumma here.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Apologise for pic quality, it's a red lamp not white.
