I went to TS and purchased a blue swede baby and a khaki Campbell baby. The blue is vomiting! They just got them in today, and the guy who runs the chick days at our store said its due to stress. She did it once when i picked her up, and the other times she was in her tank. the first time it was all food, but the last three times have been clear bubbly liquid (I'm assuming water). I have noticed when she drinks she puts her head straight in the air and holds it there like shes having a hard time getting it down. Should I be worried about blockage? She has vomited about 4 times since I bought them 5 hours ago.

Oh, hey! I'm having the exact same problem! Mine are a blue swede and a buff, three days old, and are vomiting a lot. I was really worried until I searched BYC and saw that a bunch of people had reported this with no ill effects. I'm starting to think that mine's crops are just too full. Perhaps it has something to do with them trying to compensate for being dehydrated by drinking too much.

I hope your babies feel better soon. Electrolyte/vitamin powder for the water is probably a good idea.

Thanks guys! These are my second set of babies Ive had and Im so worried about her! Can I get vitamins/electrolyte powder at TS or a feed store?

Congrats msuredneck &deckduck. This is weird I received 5 ducklings today 2 blue swed and 3 runners from metzers po phoned @ 7 they did great all day then around 6 started vomiting clear liquid check out my post on 3 day old vomiting only thing I know to do at moment is vita/ elect. Mix and yes Tsc has the mix not sure about feed stores my feed store does carry it here.

How strange! If it's any help, mine seem to be doing it significantly less now. That's about four hours after I was able to get the dilution figured out and finally add the Vita Pack to their water. They've been eating and drinking like crazy all day so perhaps they really were just dehydrated.

Congratulations on your new guys too Duckins. Mine were also delivered this morning from Metzer Farms. I guess our swedes are from the same hatch, huh? ;)

I will go tomorrow and get the vitamins.

The ducklings just arrived today after being shipped Monday, so I'm sure its a combination of stress, purging, and dehydration. She's prob just overdoing it. I'll update tomorrow. Thanks again guys!! BYC rocks!

Same here mine have gone nuts with eating and drinking but seem settled now hopefully ! Blue sweds same hatch funny we will have to keep pics up enjoy they grow very fast. Oh I have 2 4 mon old buffs they have the sweetest gentlest nature.

This is my first go around with Swedes. I love buffs! I have a one yr old buff and a one yr old Indian runner pair. My buff is very sweet! Doesnt hurt that I've spoiled them way beyond rotten. Duckins and DeckDuck do you have pics up of your babies?

Even at such a young age I'm already noticing that with mine. She is just so laid back and loving. I had been debating about getting a Buff instead of another Swede but now I am just so glad that I got her! She's great.

I'm glad to hear that everyone's babies are feeling better. Mine are doing very well this morning. One is still sneezing occasionally and I do hear a bit of liquid in her air sack but they're getting more and more energetic so I'm not so worried anymore. Nobody has thrown up today. I guess they were just over compensating for being dehydrated and stressed from their trip. Few!
