Hey everyone,
I’ve been using regular straw in my ducks’ coop but heard that straw pellets work great. I thought I’d try it.
I just changed out their coop this morning with the new stuff. When I came back they were all hoovering the straw pellets down. Should I take it right out and go back to straw?

I attached a photo of what I’m using.

i’ve been using pine flakes and straw in my coop for many years recently I bought a bag of pine pellets bedding for horse stalls and I was also worried that they might eat it. They did start eating it so I decided not to use it in their coop and went back to the pine flakes and straw.
however, I found it useful to put the bedding pellets into puddles to fill them and muddy areas in the pen. They soak up the water and become nice sort of sawdust looking ground cover. I would stand there and wait for them to soak up the water and then stomp them all down flat, so the ducks wouldn’t eat them, it doesn’t take long. I may buy more to use the mud puddles however gravel and sand have always worked for me in that area as well
