Hello all!

My duck's wings do this every few days and she shakes her head and opens her mouth as if she wants to vomit and nothing comes out. Her tongue even sticks out for a while when she's doing this vomiting motion. It really scares and worries me. This happens every few days and it lasts for a couple of hours and then she goes back super normal and energetic and talkative like nothing has happened. She also drinks lots and lots of water during this period of time. And every time she goes to sit down, she stands back up after a couple of seconds like she's uncomfortable. She walks really slow as well and is super quiet. Which is not like her because she's super talkative and runs around all the time. But it's only during these few hours and then she's back to normal.

Does it do this at any particular time, like after eating?
No, It just happens suddenly. One minute she's fine and the next her wings are twitching and she looks super fatigued and then after a couple of hours she's back to being fine.

my ducks twitch and shuffle their wings ever so slightly when theyre sleepy, when theyre getting comfy and settling down. But they dont fan their wings like that, thats a little odd. Still, I'm curious if it could be related. You mentioned she seems uncomfortable, and does this vommiting motion- Is this after she eats or drinks? Is she laying normally?

Did you ever get through all the other replies in your last thread? My first guess would be a continuation of that problem. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/duck-laying-issues-vet-is-no-help.1545157/

Have you talked with your vet again? How has she been laying since?
Yes. I have read them but the replies aren't exactly what i'm looking for as her symptoms don't seem to be what other people are referring to. I have read other forums as well but nothing seems to be exactly like her problem. She's been sitting on her eggs a lot recently and she hasn't laid an egg in five days. I'm guessing she seems to be preparing to take a break? since winter is nearing? I'm not sure.

No. She doesn't do it after eating or drinking. It only happens during the same period of time that she is twitching and fanning her wings. And nothing comes out either, no liquid or food or anything. She has been laying fine and she's recently been sitting on her eggs and hasn't laid anything for 5 days. She laid a total of 17 eggs so far.
