Just out of curiosity....I have a black Americauna rooster that I bred to my blue copper marans. Hatched out some cute little black chicks with black legs. What color of eggs do you suppose they will end up laying if they end up being pullets? He is my only Roo and that is why I used him to try to get more of the dark brown egg layers. Any advice? Will they be green/blue from the Rooster or dark brown from the hen???

I think green egg x dark brown egg = "olive egg" and I have heard that an EE and Marans makes a good "olive egger"

I have an EE x Marans cockerel to get rid of. He is BEAUTIFUL with feather leggs and a puffy face, but I don't have the space or hens to keep him

I keep hoping that someone local will want him for an olive egger, but so far no takers

I am not local but would love to see a picture of him:)
Thanks for your input. I have heard of the "olive egger" but didn't know what you crossed to get that. Interesting;)

Olive Eggers are a big popularity now.

Depending on the green or blue hue of the Easter Egger rooster and the depth in darkness and color of the Marans, the offspring should lay a nice olive green colored egg. Some are more on the green side, some more on a golden brown side. Either way, they're a must in anyone's colorful egg basket.

Read the thread on it, that's where I read about it.

This is the guy. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed! He's so pretty I wanted a hen, but that comb up and went red on me at like 4 weeks old
