It looks like they do have pin feathers growing in, so maybe it was a mini molt. They should be be fine. They will roost together and keep warm. I use 2x3 roosts with the flat side up for roosts.

They have smooth 1x6 for their roost bar. They can let down flat and cover their feet completely. It could be winter boredom, quarters or chickens being chickens but the easiest way to rule out a protein deficiency is to adjust the diet.@nuthatched, do you think the chickens are feather picking each other because they are not getting enough protein in their diet?
They'll be fine, they don't need to come in.The question remains, do I bring them into the garage as it’s going to be in the low teens at night? I don’t want them to get frostbite without the feathers around their combs. Also, is this molting?
