I love it too... thats what encouraged me to get these. Maybe I can tie it to a stake out in a field and use it as a decoy

. I've been going through a dry spell for the last 2 years b/c of some idiots on the land next door that don't know how to call, maybe this will help.

That would probably work but I'm sure it is illegal, but what happens in the woods stays there ( hopefully, unless of course its dinner).

lol nothing can beat a live decoy! Easters are the hardest to hunt in my opinion although I can usually manage 2 to 3 a season I'm pretty good at calling even called one onto my property under a fence paid off resisting the urge to poach a little lol. And no matter how good a hunter i think I am an old tom (knows the business) when he doesn't see a hen. They like hens to come to them. Nothings more frustrating than having a tom wearing it out just inside a tree line cause he doesn't see the hen or doesn't like your decoy. I literally had one about 20 yards away that i couldn't see gobbling at every call I made for an hour. His brother came up behind me drumming I couldn't help it I had to look I turned around and saw a hen staring at me I almost blew it cause she alerted the others but soon calmed down thank god, then he finally came into view to check out the field for a sec but he quickly turned around. But before he got back into the woods i let him have it! On a side note i would love to hunt some meriums one day!! tail feathers are so pretty

I hunt them like crazy too, also raise rios, merriams, and had osceolas, easterns are illegal in Georgia to have because they are our native bird, is the only reason I dont have them.

As for your original question
at 7 weeks old, there's now way to know the sex, so showing a pic of a "gobbler" wont be possible, would just be a randon poult pic. Also there is no ID difference at that age on them for species, the other 4 subspecies, or a domestic bronze for that matter will all look the same.

They'll all be tan poults with brown and black speckles that are in the feathering out process.
At about 6 months, once the juvenile feathers start to molt off and the first adolecent feathers start to come in, you can then sex them. The hens will have buff laced tips on all their breast feathers for all 5 wild species while the jakes with be getting all black feathers no lacing at all. Hope that helped.

Sounds like you bought some, sorry just no way to ID them til they grow up and feather out good this fall.

There may still be some poult pics on my website, cant remember if they are still on there or not, but you are welcome to take a look and see
