I keep reading that my (possibly) egg bound hen needs extra calcium right away. How in the world do I get this into her? She already gets lots of calcium in her layer crumble. How do I add more to what she's ingesting?

Plain Yogurt. Buy a tub of it and let your hen/flock go wild. Its really messy but chickens love it and its good for them. You can just plop some on the ground, on a plate or from the tub it comes it.

If you have checked inside her vent with a gloved and lubricated finger 1-2 inches, and found an egg, only then does she need the extra calcium. You can give a Tums tablet or a half a calcium tablet, ground egg shell, and liquid calcium gluconate from the cattle section of a farm store, are all ways to give extra calcium. They will usually swallow a pill or portions of a pill when put into the back of the mouth, or you can crush it in food. Here is a good link to read about egg binding: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/07/chicken-egg-binding-causes-symptoms.html
