We have three blue layers - EE, Ameracauna, and CLB.

I hadn’t noticed this until today when I was drying shells to feed back, but some of the insides of the eggs are blue while others are white.

The presence or absence of the membrane doesn’t change it, either.

Normal for some breeds? No idea who laid what.

My understanding is that blue permeates the shells. The shell itself is blue. Eggs that have white on the inside of the shells means the color was added later in the egg development process, like brown layers. CCL (crested cream legbars) are blue layers, so their eggs will be blue inside. Ameracaunas, too. EEs are probably who have white inside.

That’s so interesting! I always figured the color was added right before the egg was laid. Which, maybe it is on the hybrids - one of my OEs can scratch color from her egg if she scuffs it immediately after laying. Learn something new every day!

Those are really beautiful blues, btw. My CCL isn't laying yet. I can't wait! Hope her eggs look like those!
