This is my first covey and just last week, I started to see eggs. Today was the first time I saw some bad eggs laid. Is this normal (you get some bad eggs)? Am I doing something wrong? I've attached pictures of one bad egg, the other was normal color and all, just weak shell with some collapsed parts.

  • I feed them Purina's Gamebird starter
  • I have a little cup of Dumor Oyster Shell, it seemed to be running low so I refilled it. The chunks can be big, should I grind? How?
  • They just started laying Wednesday or so, 5 hens, but I don't think all laying - just a total of 7 eggs.
Appreciate your help!

Normally I would say lack of calcium, but since you're feeding oyster shell on the side, that shouldn't be it.

New layers often lay some weird eggs until their bodies adjust to laying. I wouldn't worry unless you continue to see them every day.

Fresh Greek Oregano...*wink*
I sing to them... also, I think it helps
Me think could be...
Kidney, Iron?
Liver, Fatty? high protein to layer feed
Absorption of nutrients -to much too little- Calcium
Natural Transition - dead genetics(celedon)?
(Body function changes make eggs more attuned to the coming weather and season)
STRESS -
Heat - both
Humping -
