I used one of those refrigerated pie crusts. Put the crust in the pie plate and poke holes with fork.
Blend one cup of sugar with four large eggs, one can of evaporated milk, 3/4 cup of water, 1/4 cup of lt. rum(or just use water with rum flavoring), 1/8 teasp. salt.
Pour into uncooked pie shell and sprinkle with cinnamon and fresh ground nutmeg. Bake on a cookie sheet with raised sides and add about 1/2 inch of water around the pie plate. this is to keep the custard from cracking.
Bake at 350` for 55 minutes or until a toothpick, inserted NEAR the middle of the custard comes out clean.
This is so very easy to make and is absolutely delicious. I got it off the Food Network. Allow pie to come to room temp and then refrigerate.

you are very welcome. It really is easy, I just wish I had made two. ha ha but I will make two for Christmas. Takes about five minutes to mix up.

well now I made two more of these pies tonight but I changed the recipe a bit.... added one more egg, added nutmeg and cinnamon and more rum but used the spiced rum this time to the batter and a bit less water

I will let you all know how this turns out. The first recipe is very, very good but doesn't have a lot of flavor...like a normal custard. I wanted this one to be different? We will see

I went shopping today and actually remembered to get pie crusts and condensed milk. My wife and kids just left to do some more shopping so I stayed home to make these pies as a surprise.

First I am proud of myself for remembering the ingredients and second for even attempting to make a pie!

I made two pies and had to change the recipe a bit.... I used lemon rum and of course I added less water and more rum

I gotta tell you...I tasted the rum mixed with the sugar and condensed milk...before I added the eggs...and it was really good! They are in the oven now.

I will let you all know how this turns out. Thank you ozark hen for sharing the recipe!

I doctored up my second set of pies, too with more rum and less water............my dh was in awe...he loves them!!! I also mixed some of the seasonings in the milk mixture as well as putting them on top. Play with this recipe all you want...maybe sweetened condensed milk will work??? Doesn't sound good though. ha ha Let me know how this turned out for you.

LOL....Yes, it was EVAPORATED MILK!

Results are in.......everyone LOVED the pies. This recipe was easy to make and best of all there was no mess to clean up!

Good for you Zunibee, I told my husband how you had bought the ingredients and made them yourself. He was impressed

He has never made anything like that...he is good to fix a bowl of soup in the microwave!

Seriously, he has made an awesome breakfast for me lots of times. It would never occur to him to bake anything....for which I am appreciative.
