Eggbound??

I brought this chicken inside about a week ago cause she seemed to not be feeling so good, walked in to check on her this morning and she looked like this! I gave her an epsom salt soak in the sink with warm water and cleaned all the hard poop off her butt. Her vent is red and looks like something big got pushed through (kinda “loose” looking and red). Is there anything else I can do to help her?

I doubt it’s egg binding, she would have been dead if the symptoms started showing a week ago. However, it could have happened while she was sick with something else, stress can cause this. My advice would be to used a gloved lubricated finger and insert it into the vent. If she’s egg bound, you should be able to feel the egg. Be gentle though to avoid cracking it at this stage. If you can feel an egg, pop her in a warm Epsom salt bath for 20 minutes, hair dry her and leave her for a while. If you have no luck, try again a few more times. If it’s not working, there’s more extreme methods you can do but I’d try that first! Good luck!
