I have three, 4 month old Cayugas. Hatched the day before Valentine's. Two hens and a drake. Today I saw my drake actually breed one of the hens. They did their little necking motion and he got on top of her and did the thing. She didn't fight or fuss and just let him.

I feel like 4 months is early? I know everything develops in their own time but everything I've seen says between 5 and 6 months.

My Runners were 4 months old when they stated mating and started laying about 2-3 weeks after. I thought it was awfully early too but those girls were throwing themselves all over their drake.

This is good to know. I'm glad mine aren't the only ones 🤣 they stay extra close and head bob at each other all the time in their pool, but today was the first day I actually saw them mating. Doesn't mean they haven't before today but!! I'm excited!

Always so exciting to get those first eggs. Well I’ve been doing this since 2004 and it’s still exiting to me. Let us know when you get the first egg!!

I got my first eggs!! Both hens have laid two eggs, since yesterday (8/8/23). The first ones were ashy white but these are darker!
