Eggshell is blue on inside and brown on outside

This egg does look dark olive to me, not brown. There seems to have been a mix up with the pullets, but as the Whiting True Blue are just another kind of mixed breed, I don't see much reason to complain. It is a beautiful egg colour.

Have you contacted them and asked them why your chicken is laying brown eggs?
What other chickens did you buy from them?
Is it possible a different chicken laid this egg?
I'll def do this good idea, and thanks!!

But the breeder doesn't even offer Production Blues, only Whiting True Blues, but also Olive Eggers. Maybe mine is one of those 🤨
I am afraid I don't know what Production Blues vs. Whiting True Blues. I know the B. Amer. crowd calls the "blue ameraucana" true blue, however it is clearly grey. Love is Hate, War is Peace, Truth is a Lie, and there is plenty of everything as illustrated by shortages right?

Funny, I was thinking the inner shell does not look blue.
Course it's hard to take pics of egg colors...and everyone's screens can be different.
Best to do it in bright but indirect sunlight on a white back ground.

@ccnycnc did you peel the inner membrane off as soon as you emptied egg?

The inner shells of blue or green/olive eggs will look blue/green, as the colouring is already incorporated during the calcification process, whereas for the dark brown eggs, the colour is just a coating that can be washed off.
Yes, am well aware ;) Have made many an OE here with several breeds.

The blue shell color will be easier to see/gauge if the inner membranes are peeled off.
Most brown coatings do not 'wash' off.....tho the darker ones can, and also be smeared or scratched.

It happens. I have an Isbar that just started to lay and is laying brown eggs that are blue inside. I won't be selling her eggs but will hatch some in April maybe when I have time and grow those pullets out and breed to an isbar roo to see what develops. With those newer mixed breeds, like the True Blue, and with breeds that have had to be outcrossed for genetic diversity, the blue outer shell can be a toss up.
