I would like to provide my free-range ducks with some protection from Land predators during the night. Has anyone installed an electric fence that goes from land to pond? My ducks sleep on the pond or on the edge of the pond at night. I now have lost two ducks. I am somewhat of a new duck owner and I'm trying to find out what I can do to help them while still staying free-range.

You can't run electric into a pond, and so must go all the way around it to be more effective. this won't keep snapping turtles, or any predator who will swim, away from your ducks either.
Your ducks need to be trained to come into a safe coop/ run every night, or any time there's a predator problem! You are going to loose them all under current conditions.

The poultry netting will keep out all, but the smallest snapping turtles. I simply jug them out anyway as major pest.

Based on where we live it's either fox or coyote (unlikely), dog,or owl or raccoon. I have muscovies, one jumbo Pekin and now one regular Pekin. Our pond is an acre with one side deep and one side shallow. I was thinking of blocking off an area with the fencing around the open coop/shelter they have down to the pond. But I guess the fox could walk through the shallow end and get to them .
