I found one of my chicks this morning with a missing leg — All other chicks and other animals are fine and there’s sign of struggling such as feathers.
The injury itself is very strange; her left leg is completely gone, and there’s almost no blood. The area where the leg once was is just smooth flesh, no deep gashes or anything.
Overall she seems okay, she’s eating and drinking and even hopping around when she has to, but she’s very clearly in pain and possibly a little feverish too. What should I do to make sure she recovers? She’s a very lightweight breed, so she’ll most likely be able to sustain her weight on one leg.
I can provide pictures if needed, although they may be a little graphic.
