Did you breed them?

I have a regular Dusky Call drake that I hatched from my Lilac project pen this summer, and I'm also trying to figure out a mate for him... I'm thinking of trying to find a Khaki Call hen for him, since they're a little easier to find. Khaki is just Dusky with a Chocolate dilution, so it won't mess up the Dusky pattern. Just a thought.

They were hatched from eggs a friend and I got off Ebay.. They came from California...

Ive got a blue fawn hen im gonna pair with the blue dusky in the hopes of getting something pretty.. My friend is gonna pair the penciled with something, but I cant remember at the moment.. What ever it is is supposed to result in more penciled.. Not emery penciled, but at least penciled..

Im REALY looking for magpie or ancona call ducks (hint hint Sweetfolly

That's not a bad idea - I might cross my Dusky drake with a Grey hen that I hatched this year who's my most type-y juvenile so far. From the Blue Dusky x Blue Fawn cross, you'll probably get 50% Blue Fawns, 25% Greys, and 25% Pastels, the same as a Blue Fawn x Blue Fawn crossing. BUT - cross your first-generation daughters back to the Blue Dusky drake, and you should start seeing some Dusky, Blue Dusky, and Apricot Dusky offspring in the second generation.

Next spring, I promise! We're in the middle of a year-long total house renovation, which is why I haven't been on BYC, but I've been working hard on the Magpie and Anconas! I have lots of color now and they're all nice and small, I just need to breed them back to my best birds in the spring to improve type. Then I'll feel a little better about them.

Here are some of this year's Chocolate Magpie and Ancona girls - they have big, ol' long swan necks, that's one of the things I need to fix!

Ohhh I'm jealous!! They are gorgeous!! And here I'd give anything for a couple of mates for my 3 little drakes. Poor boys have been without a mate since I got them 2.5 years ago but no one around here has any anywhere and anywhere else i look want a fortune for them so my sweet little boys will probably never have a girlfriend
