The incubators are hovering around 51-55% humidity. The breeder said she likes a “drier” incubator for eggs and suggested 40-50% but I prefer mine to fluctuate between 45-65%.

Happy Day 2 chickies! Added water to Incubator Two this morning, as it was at 38% with the vent closed completely.
Incubator one is good at 53%, vent is closed.

The breeder is right.



65% humidity is the right humidity from day 18 on.
Days 1-17 should be much lower like 40-45% or else you risk the chicks drowning in leftover albumen that should have evaporated.
Too high humidity during the first incubation period will prevent proper evaporation.

Thank you!! I will open the vents and get it between 40-50% My daughter is a worry wort and she really can’t stand it if it gets under 46% but I’ll let her know about the albumen. She loves to learn.
