Entire flock not laying

Im not an expert on food analysis (and someone who is would need to know how much of each item), but I wonder if adding another protein source might help. When I have looked into chicken food "recipes" there is often a animal protein in addition to the meal worms.

They will not leave shells behind if they are eating eggs, but
might get messy faces.

I have experienced random egg laying stopping for my flock before and mostly it was solved by reducing stress and improving nutrition. One time we didn't realize rats were getting in and eating their feed. We started putting the cat out at night, got some dead rats on the front step for a couple weeks and the chickens started laying. I had my suspicions that the feed I was getting had changed their formula because it smelled different. I switched to a new feed and that solved the problem also.
