Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Happy New Year - only 78 days left until SPRING! ( and yes, I see a little bunny duck with no sweater… Why!?)

Keep us posted on that heater!!
Time to take down those baubles!!!

Says they are back-ordered. To which I replied I asked for it in OCTOBER!!!

We're having a nasty storm right now, and the wind is making it worse. Cold enough that being outside without mitts will freeze your hands in moments. Had a couple of power flickers and that makes me really nervous. I don't know how much propane I have left in case I have to turn to the stove for heating.

If the roads are passable enough tomorrow, I'll see if I can go get another tank of it.

Poor chickens. Snowed all day so I couldn't shovel the pens out. I have a lot to do tomorrow...

One less cockerel to feed.

Finally got around to processing the black and white cockerel, about a month later than planned. Got him with three other chicks back in September at a livestock sale. Came with the cage for $20. I was only interested in the cage, tbh, and resold three of the chicks at auction a couple of weeks later. Thought I might keep this one due to his interesting colours but I really didn't need another roo.

Scrawny thing. Probably more of a layer mix than meat. But he should make good soup. Gotta do what you gotta do at the price of meat nowadays. :(

Thinking of you.
:hugs
Awww, thank you!

I'm doing well, bunkered down to get through this polar vortex. Hopefully only a week of this (which is honestly a week too long!).

Fluffed up the straw in the chicken coop, and will thicken the bedding in the duck coops today. They're hardier than I am!
