Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Wow, glad you're alright and it all didn't happen during the snowstorm! Great news about the eggs!
Thanks Stinky! :hugs

In a way, I was *very* lucky*. It's a 45 minute drive into town, on back roads. Very little 'civilization' along the way. And hardly any cell connection.

I'm sore from having killed the time waiting for the tire to be replaced by walking into town and doing some of my shopping and then having to walk back to the garage with heavy bags.

I try to be on top of the weather which is why I went in yesterday. It was a mild day and since the heater fan in the car is broken I didn't want to do it today before the storm (currently about -18c).

Whoa, that's a good amount of snow there! How's everyone and everything holding up? We're also supposed to get about a foot added to what we have now.
I'm currently thawing out between bouts of shovelling. Surprisingly, the chickens weren't overly upset with me making them wait until I dug out their coops and runs before letting them out.

The DUCKS on the other hand!!!

Had to cull one of the chickens the other day. She'd been limping a bit but nothing major. She ate well and seemed perky otherwise. But Wednesday I was trying to get her up the ramp into the coop for the night, and she refused. Managed to grab her and found one of her legs dead. Frozen. :( I have no idea how she was hiding this from me. Heck, she was even scratching for food! :(

I am so sorry Wind. :hugs

I am going to die!!!

Another foot + of snow overnight. :th

I'm already is so much pain... *ALMOST* done with the driveway. I keep needing to take breaks, but I figure about an other half hour should do it. And then I'll have to do it all again.

I have another 13 eggs I can plop in the incubator. Only some of them I know to be pure Chantecler though (because of their shape), unsure about the others. Pretty sure the second Chantecler hen is laying, but don't know about the others in the pen. *Maybe* some of the Cochin are, but I don't want to risk eating purebred Chanties. They're worth more alive than as omelettes!
