My apologies if this has been discussed before.
I'm building a new coop in SE Texas, airflow (I'm learning) is going to be an issue.
So. 92 degrees, no wind and over 60% rh.
Does anyone use large fans to keep air moving in both an open air coop and run?
I'm considering a 3 to 4 foot diameter fan, minimal noise, with a rheostat to control speed.
:he I get it, I'm overthinking it. But...

Hi! I'm in East TX too. You can definitely do a fan if that would put you at ease but your best friend will be ventilation. Plenty of ventilation!

Have you already built your coop? You might consider an open aired one if you're worried about heat.

Edit: sorry, I missed the part about you already working on building an open air coop!

I'm currently redrawing plans towards an open air coop. I'm sure the gals would survive without a fan, but would a big fan make them happier?
I work in an environment that definitely doesn't have AC, but walking into the airflow of a fan is bliss.
FYI, I'm notorious for babying my chickens.
Picked Buff Orps for eggs and meat, couldn't do it. Ended up running a senior citizen retirement village.
My weakness...

I feel ya. Meat chickens is easier said than done!

Check out this one. @GalvestonWader has been updating their open air build and they're also in our climate.

How big of a coop are you building?
It will be on a trailer, working space 6'4"X14'.
I'm planning on a finished interior of 6X8,
Allowing for room to clean, nest boxes etc.
Ceiling will likely be a full 8 or 9 feet... our last coop was good, but difficult to clean because of the ceiling height.

Howdy! I’m from central Texas! I have a solar powered fan because I don’t have access to power in my coop. Will you be able to connect your fan to power?

Thank you!!
And yeah, I found out I couldn't do meat chickens.
Steers, goats, pigs? No problem.
But when that first Orp jumped into my lap and fell asleep while I was reading a book... couldn't do it.
Many thanks for the link!

One thing that I’ve read about coop fans: if you’re setting it up as an exhaust fan, you’ll want some sort of “barn fan”, because chicken coop dust will choke a regular fan. That’s all I’ve got. 🤷🏼
Yes Ma'am, I've seen that in horse stalls.
What I'm talking about is a big fan well outside the coop,
