fart eggs

I've never heard of a fart egg, but I think my chickens will be making fart eggs tonight after giving them their first hanging cabbage today. Good thing there's plenty of ventilation in their coop.

:D a fart egg is a tiny egg that doesn't have a yolk in it. They're OOPS eggs ;)

To the OP, I'm not sure what to tell you about your hen. I've never heard of one laying wind eggs consistently , kinda makes me think something is wrong with her ovaries.

It is perfectly normal. A fart egg, also known as a wind egg or dwarf egg, is a small egg that is typically laid by a young hen (pullet). These eggs usually do not contain a yolk and were often thought to be laid by roosters in olden times. With pullets, the thinking is that the egg is a misfire of the young chicken's reproductive system, however, fart eggs can also occur in older hens when a small amount of reproductive material breaks away and is packaged up accidentally as an egg. Laying age varies, but in my experience 24 weeks is about average. Hens typically begin by laying a smallish egg and as they reach maturity the egg size grows. Good luck with your chickens!

Weird eggs once in a while is perfectly normal. However, it is not normal for the hen to ONLY lay wind eggs every day for days/weeks in a row. Has the hen ever laid a regular egg? What age is she?

If she's just a pullet laying tiny pullet eggs (with yolks) that's fine.

i bought her off a dealler so i dont no the age and the eggs dont have yolks

and its not everyday she lays an egg but everytime she does it is tiny

most likely she is around 20 weeks old, at 24 weeks she will start laying nice normal eggs for you. Some of our chickens layed normal eggs at 22 weeks but don't be worried if it takes a little longer.
