Faverolles Thread

I got my LF Salmon Favs from eggs from Jamie at http://www.mccallumsflock.com/bantamfaverolles.htm She has Bantam and Standard.
I'd love to read opinions if anyone else has bought from them. Three have very nice color and the fourth is darker. Of the three with good salmon color, each has a different amount of beard/muff. Better pics coming I hope.

Happy New Year all!

this spring i will hope to be getting 2 lines , one from around my area , and one from a hatchery , that way i would not have to do a lot of line breeding i , would have to do some but not a lot.
I would like to say that this hatchery Does not get eggs nor chicks from any one elese , So in a way he is a Very Very Big breeder.

I am really excited the first test hatch was succesful now there are 4 baby favs. I have also set some of my eggs and I'm getting either a started pair or trio and a set of eggs from HatTrick.

i was going to take her to a thing at the feed store , may she rest in peice

i tend to step on toes in my flock but i found i have to move slowly and make sure to take some scratch or other treats to throw to the opposite side of the coop so i don't step on them while entering. it's funny to see they get so enthralled when i take a suet cake cage filled with veggies and wave it over them. everyone hopping about 2 feet trying to snatch stuff, or someone being intelligent and trying to jump on my back or arm to get to it!

call ducks, sorry about your hen. i certainly know how hard it is to avoid them when they are always underfoot!

Thanks I left these last few days and the last pullet has a cut comb I don't know who did it maybe the cock or a predator or another bird either LF or one of the other hens. What ever the case may be her comb is badly cut so she is in a cage in the shed with her own food and water. I really hope she is ok she is the most beautiful hen I have! She doesn't seem lethargic or sick that wound is just scary pray for her she is on of my favorites

Henry, she should heal up just fine. I've had some amazing recoveries in chickens from cuts, picking, and so on -- a few years ago I was keeping some Black Australorps and Barred Rocks together. They were the same age and had always been together, but for some reason the BR's decided to pick on the BA's, and by the time I realized what was going on they'd picked several heads clear to the bone. I put the BA's out loose in the yard, wondering if a couple of them would survive, but surprisingly, they healed up in a short time so you couldn't even tell they'd been injured. (I did keep them separated after that, though!)
