I’ve used both Nutrena Naturewise and Kalmbach Flockmaker and my chickens seem to prefer the Kalmbach but they are both really good feeds.

I use the Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve 17% protein, and the Purina All Flock Layer pellets 20% protein, my flock ranges in ages from 1 year to 5 years and the proportion i use in their rations is 20% Kalmback and 80% layer feed, Id say maybe once a month i scatter some of the Happy Hen Worm mix in the runs, it has meal worm, black fly larva, and beetles, i believe it has 35 to 43% protein count, specially useful during the molt. My older hens are the Australorp's in the 5 years range and show no signs of a egg production slow or diminishing egg size, they are still my best egg layers, 2nd runners up are the Brown Leghorns, 3rd are the Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers, 4th the White Leghorns, 5th the Rhode Island Reds, 6th Barred Rocks, lastly the black Jersey Giants, this combination worked for me in my region and weather conditions, very resilient birds. not fussy, Hope this helps.I am feeling absolutely overwhelmed right now trying to pick an “all flock” feed for my mixed age flock of birds. I talked to a Kalmbach rep and walked away feeling even more confused than I was before! I have 5 birds that are into their first month of laying, and 7 pullets that are many weeks away from starting to lay yet. I have oyster shells available, and other than the odd egg here or there, things have been going smoothly for the laying girls. I am currently feeding Chickhouse Reserve, but I want to switch to something different as my birds tend to pick out the veggie bits they like and leave the rest on the ground.
What is everyone’s favorite “all flock” feed? I have Kalmbach and Purina readily available along with anything I can order on Chewy, which doesn’t look like much outside of more Kalmbach options.
Purina's is either "All Flock" or "Layer", there's no "All Flock Layer".I use the Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve 17% protein, and the Purina All Flock Layer pellets 20% protein
Ive used Kalmbach Hen House Reserve brand for many years, raised my poultry on it, my feed store does not stock the Kalmbach 20% flock maker (wish they did) so I use the Purina All Flock pellets which is also 20% protein with good results. I tend not to change their routine and rations if I see its working, same thing with the horses, I use the Omolene 200 from Purina for them, these brands are a little pricey in my area however they work. I have peace of mind that nutrition wise Im doin the best I can for them.Kalmbach Chickhouse Reserve fermented (in the morning) and preparing to surrender and provide Kalmbach 20% Flock Maker in pellet form as the available dry supplement. Between the total knee replacement and the arrival of two new pullets in two weeks, I’m simplifying, at least for now.
oops typo! im at work, bags are in the truck, its the Flock RaiserPurina's is either "All Flock" or "Layer", there's no "All Flock Layer".
Speedy recovery on that knee replacement!Kalmbach Chickhouse Reserve fermented (in the morning) and preparing to surrender and provide Kalmbach 20% Flock Maker in pellet form as the available dry supplement. Just priced that at my local supplier, $15.50/50 lbs! That will likely be what I use when my flocks reach age.Tucker Milling Show Flock (all feed)
