Feathers looking bare

Hi! I’ve raised chickens for many years but this is the first time I have a chicken with feathers like this and I’m not sure what’s going on. The bottoms of the feathers look like they are picked bare, the feathers are very brittle and it looks like mites could be causing this but I don’t see any. I’ve been keeping her dusted but it doesn’t seem to be helping. Any advice or knowing what this might be? She gets a lot of protein from her feed, scrambled eggs and mealworms.

Welcome To BYC

Could be some feather picking/plucking going on.

For mites, check your coop and the birds at night while they are roosting since most mites live in the housing and come at night to feed. Run a paper towel along the roosting bars, see if you get any bugs or smears of red. Look at the birds around their vents, under their wings at night.
