Feed question (Manna Pro)

We live in a small rural area and I know for some of you guys this is going to seem funny, but we just had our 1st Walmart open yesterday and of course you can imagine the importance of this big store because we have to travel to get to the closest one. Well anyways I noticed they sell Manna Pro chicken feed and wondered if anyone uses this brand of food? Is it of the same quality as the Southern States food? It only cost $8.64 per 50lb bag. They also sell scratch and something else but forgot. Also at these low prices. What do you all think? Good Idea or Not?

I understand being way out there, its a good 45 min trip to my horse feed store and hour to Walmart!

I am very very new to chickens, but I have used the Manna Pro starter chicken feed in crumbles and baby chicks loved it! that price tag is wonderful! I was paying $12 per 7 lb bag for the baby chick feed. I have now switched to a grower finisher feed but I forget the brand, the store didnt carry the Manna Pro grower formula, it was weird! I now get a 25 lb bag for about $10 i think. My four 10 week old chicks gobble it up!

I haven't used Manna Pro (my local store doesn't sell it) but it is an established company and should be a good product.

Thank you. I know it is wierd that we are excited because in the beginning I didn't want one to come here. I was afraid that they would put the little MOm & Pop stores out of business and I still hope that this won't happen. But of course we had to brave the huge crowd and the store was wonderful. HUGE! It is so funny. I usually pay under $12 for the SS food I use now so that is def a great price. I am sorry that you have to pay such a high price for such a small bag of food. Where are you located?

I absolutely LOVE Manna Pro feed... They have really great quality product for a great price. I have used their chick starter, Triple Duty chicken feed, grit, oyster shell... And Manna Pro makes a product called Calf-Manna which is a vitamin and protein supplement that you can use for almost any species. I mix some of those pellets in my feed and they are the first things my chickens eat. I definitely think it has helped give them beautiful feathers and they seem really healthy.

I would give it a try and see what you think, but it definitely has my endorsement.

I'm in Missouri... I buy my feed in 50 lb. bags - the medicated chick starter from Manna Pro was only $11 (for 50 lbs!) and the Triple Duty feed is $8 (FOR 50 LB!!!!) I know pricing might be different through walmart, but I love when I feel like I'm getting a good deal on a good product.​

Hey can I ask what the Triple Duty feed is? They didn't have that kind (don't think so anyways. ) I misspoke I think you are getting nice prices of the Manna Pro that is

I believe the Triple Duty is Manna Pro's grower mix. I bought a bag of it from the feed store a couple of weeks ago. The birds didn't like it - hardly touched it. This past weekend after we got our first egg, I switched over to a layer mash that our local feed co-op makes with all local ingredients, and they like it way better than they did the Manna Pro stuff. They actually devour it every morning when I let them out of the coop into the run where the feeders are kept. Plus it isn't made in St. Louis, MO, (I think that's when it's made) and then trucked halfway across the country to get to me.

This shows where the MP feeds are made. I think their offices are in St. Louis (same as Purina) but that's not where it's made... It looks like there are mills a lot closer to you than that. You could always call and find out for sure.
